As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of directions, this describes directions coming with any portable garage or carport kit. But, while pictures can help with putting together a portable garage, a video is even more helpful. YouTube, as anyone can tell you, is a valuable resource for finding videos, and that includes how-to videos, as well. While many portable garage and carport companies actually have their own videos up on YouTube, many ordinary people have many how-to videos for setting up a structure and these types of videos offer certain points often not found in an instruction manual for setting up a portable garage.

These two videos, parts one and two, go over the steps for setting up a smaller size portable garage. Not only is the actual assemblage of the structure covered from the smaller components of the canopy frame but so are some tips for putting together a carport for future use. Some of these tips include:
• Spikes to hold a portable garage into the ground should be put in softer ground – preferably spring, as opposed to winter.
• Use a marker to label metal fittings with location and direction, and this will be useful when assembling a portable garage later.
• Check bungee cords and tension in steel tubing and tarp after assembling the portable garage.
While the portable garage in this video is a rounded but slightly peaked roof model, the same types of steps can be taken for an A-frame portable garage.
